IT CAN TRANSLATE ILLITERATE COMMENTS TO READ AS PROPER ENGLISH

This is how thoroughly we women have been sexualized, that we cannot make the kind of noises that come with physical exertion without it being associated with sex. In fact, everything about our bodies has been sexualized in one way or another. If we groan during sport or we breast-feed in public, we are criticized for making people think about sex. If we talk openly about things like menstruation and poop and farts, then we are criticized for making people not want to think about sex.

Think about what it means to be ladylike and all of the adjectives that go along with it: elegant, cultured, classy, sophisticated. To be successful at being feminine means being successful at being private, keeping your body’s natural functions behind closed doors and never letting anyone know they exist. It means to be constrained, that you do not let your legs spread wide in public transportation and you do not make noises that are harsh on the ears. It means presenting a polished, shiny surface to the world at all times, one that allows others to project whatever they wish onto you while never showing too much of your true self.

Circus Tree: Six individual sycamore trees were shaped, bent, and braided to form this.

how the hell do you bend and braid a tree

Actually pretty easy. Trees don’t reject tissue from other trees in the same family. You bend the tree to another tree when it is a sapling, scrape off the bark on both trees where they touch, add some damp sphagnum moss around them to keep everything slightly moist and bind them together. Then wait a few years- The trees will have grown together. You can use a similar technique to graft a lemon branch or a lime branch or even both- onto an orange tree and have one tree that has all three fruits.Frankentrees.

As a biologist I can clearly state that plants are fucking weird and you should probably be slightly afraid of them.

On that note! At the university (UBC) located in town, the Agriculture students were told by their teacher that a tree flipped upside down would die. So they took an excavator and flipped the tree upside down. And it’s still growing. But the branches are now the roots, and the roots are now these super gnarly looking branches. Be afraid.

But Vi, how can you mention that and NOT post a picture? D:

If you’re protesting abortion, the Supreme Court says you can get right in women’s faces and scream at them on their way into the clinic. Because freedom of speech.

But if you try and protest the murder of a black man, you get tear gas fired at you.

Yeah …  what up with that?

Maybe if we brought the Supreme Court to one of our protests they would make the cops stop using tear gas.

if someone asks me what the girls on tumblr are like, i’m showing them this post

Yes, but what if you weren’t due for your period during that week and have it the moment you turn back?  Or do I misunderstand and for the price of being a boy for a week you never have your period again?
Think fast, though—some of you who’d happily never have their periods may want to have kids.  No period = no kids.

I think the way the Circle kids all become famous mages at fourteen is incredibly unrealistic. In fact, most of Tammy’s heroines end up becoming renowned. What sort of message does that send to children - that fame is the only goal…

Omfg I found the Tamora Pierce Fandom!!! Aaaahghhh. I’ve been alone for 12 Years!!!!

I hate arguing with your parents, because you can set up a perfect arguments with many, many different points yet they will only use one point and repeat it constantly. Then you end up getting angry and they shout at you for it.

Everybody on Tumblr is fucking 14 years old

Nope, my parents did this to me well into my 20’s and I moved out of their place when I was 18.
